Long Strolls, Anyone?

“Art removes the dust from everyday life;
Nature removes the pressures from everyday life.”

A meaningful quote from a friend.

On Friday afternoon, I explored Hortpark with Rachelle and spent a great time together sharing life and soaking in the beauty of God’s creation.

Yes, I admit. The 3 hours plus walk was excruciating for me, not to mention the heat of the afternoon sun. Part of me was cursing away as I walked up the hills and asking myself for the umpteenth time why I suggested this ludicrous idea in the first place.

Yet, the conversations that were exchanged between Rachelle and me are something I would never have trade for, even for the world.

We shared our life struggles, our thoughts, our innermost desires. We affirmed God’s amazing grace and love upon our lives over and over again. We talked about our defeats and victories in life. In this hectic society that we are in, to set aside time to reflect, ponder and wonder about life is indeed so very precious.

Nature has this wonderful way of removing the stress and pressures of everyday life, replacing them with peace, serenity and a refreshed heart. Not to mention, meaningful conversations and bonding with those I love.

And so, if you asked me, will I do it again?

With all my heart, on top of my aching sore legs, my answer is and will still be – “I do.”
